Why Little Girls are Great...

Picture a seven year old with big brown eyes and wild brown hair and two missing front teeth... oh, and she's very dramatic. I mean, very. In the best sort of way...

scene: the girl had just mentioned the name of some boy--a name I can't remember--when the following conversation took place...

girl, hands on her face in distress: "Oh! I can't talk about him!"
me, concerned: "Why? Is he mean to you?"
girl: "No! I am in a major crush with him!"
me, understanding: "Oh, now I see."
girl, eyes closed, brow furrowed in anguish: "And he is sooo charming to me. When I see him, my eyes make a big heart shape and bulge out of my head." [demonstrates with hands]
me: "That must be agonizing."
girl: "It is. That's why I really can't talk about him."
me: "I understand."

And I tried really hard not to bring him up again... but with such a display of the agony of love... well, it was hard not to mention him one more time towards the end of the hour... her only response was to look at me, and make a "zipping up the mouth" hand motion across her lips. I guess the conversation is over. Sad day.

  2. Oh, poor Matt! And even us level headed girls (which I'm sure you and Matt will have) can get ridiculous... I had my first crush at the age of six. (Well, maybe I'm not level headed.)

And Sarah, I love it too! My favorite part was "he is soo charming to me!"... she was so distraught by the thought...

  3. I had my first crush at Mother's Day Out-not sure if that made me 3 or 4. Matt is doomed.

Fun post friend! I can picture it in my head.
